Orange is helping Fujitsu get a foothold in the European smartphone market. The first device the France Telecom-owned carrier is bringing to the Old Continent is the senior-centric Fujitsu Stylistic S01.
Unlike other devices that target this population, Fujitsu’s baby is a smartphone, running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with a super-easy-to-use UI on top (and some custom apps). Plus, there’s also a special touchscreen technology, made to avoid accidental presses by forcing users to press hard on icons. I tried and it’s almost like pressing a physical button. Kinda weird but makes perfect sense.
Moreover, we had a chance to check out that speech slowing down feature, and find it pretty darn awesome. Heck, I thought of using something similar when speaking with few of my friends.
The Stylistic S01 is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8255 1.4GHz processor, which seems up for the task. On the back of the phone, there’s an 8.1-megapixel camera and a VGA one on the front (for video calls). Volume keys and screen lock is on the right side, while 3.5mm audio jack is located at the top. See for yourself how Fujitsu’s baby looks like and let us know whether it can work for your grandparents…
