Verizon Wireless to audit lines with employer discounts, require proof of employment

A report by PhoneArena suggests Verizon Wireless is cleaning house on its corporate discounts by requiring lines with a discount from their employer to provide proof of employment.

Verizon routinely offers a discount on monthly service fees and accessory purchases for the employees of companies that participate in the employee discount program. Employees can sign up for the discounts with their company representative and will remain in the discount program even after their employment has been terminated.

Starting April 1st, Verizon will be contacting customers with a corporate discount to provide proof of employment or risk losing their discount. According to leaked documents, customers will be able to verify their eligibility using an online web form or by calling Verizon directly. The process should be painless if you are still employed with the same company. Customers who are no longer eligible for the employee discount should prepare to say good-bye to their monthly savings.
