Asus Padfone Infinity pre-orders start in Taiwan

The hot-new Asus Padfone Infinity is now available for pre-ordering for users in Taiwan. The hybrid device is expectedly an expensive device with 32GB smartphone alone (without the tablet shell) selling for 20,990 TWD (about $702), while the 64GB version goes for 22,990 TWD ($769). If you want the tablet part as well — and you do want it — you’ll have to pour out an additional 5,000 TWD, which is roughly $167. That’s kinda steep but then again, it’s not like you can get something similar (with such powerful specs) from any other vendor.

Speaking of powerful specs, the Padfone Infinity rocks a 5-inch full HD screen, 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing one and a 2,400 mAh battery. The tablet shell has a 10.1-inch full HD screen, 1-megapixel front-facing camera, and a big 5,000 mAh battery. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is running the show right from the get-go.

As for when Asus will bring this bad boy to the West, we’re hearing that select countries will get it in April, UK being one of them. We’ve no idea when it will hit North America but we’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as we get that information. Stay tuned in the meantime, k?

What about the other parts of the world? Carrier contracts? Asus should do more about it… or that’s carriers should embrace this kind of devices.
