BlackBerry is shutting down its BBM Music service as of June 2, 2013. The company issued the following announcement to existing users:
BBM Music service will be discontinued as of June 2, 2013. For paying customers, April is the last month that you will be billed. In May, as your BBM contacts stop using the service, songs in your playlists will begin to turn grey and will no longer be available.
If you need to remove the app, simply highlight its icon, press the menu key and select the delete option. Before you know it – it’s gone.
And for those who need a similar service on their smartphones, BlackBerry suggests Rdio, which consequently is still not available for BlackBerry 10 devices like the Z10 (and the upcoming Q10) — though we expect it to be released pretty soon. The application comes with free 30-day trial so you can test it out before paying a single dime… or continue to use the free version if you fancy so.
