It looks as though HTC will be developing a phablet device, thanks to a report from The UnLockr. The device is being referred to the HTC T6 at the moment, and will be a 5.9 inch pen based device that, according to @evleaks, will be running on Google’s next version of Android, Key Lime Pie.
The HTC T6 is rumored to carry on the aesthetic stylings of the HTC One, and will come with a 5.9-inch 1080p full HD display. Powering the phablet will be a quad-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and 2 GB of RAM. The device will be sharing the HTC One’s UltraPixel camera and front facing speakers, with the addition of a 2.1 MP optically stabilized, wide-angle front facing camera. Only 16GB of storage will be on board, but a microSD card will allow further memory expansion.
The T6 will also be touting HTC’s Sense 5 overlay, with an updated BlinkFeed that will allow more customization of content. It looks as though the device will also be incorporating biometrics into its impressive list of features, with the biometrics sensor located on the back of the device to allow users to unlock the device while holding it. HTC is also developing a “power jacket,” which is a case with and battery backup combo that will not only protect but recharge the device when needed, providing an additional 1250 mAh of power to the already beefy 3,300 mAh battery contained in the T6.
The HTC T6 is rumored to be released later this year, which would align with speculation about the release of Key Lime Pie later this year.
