XperiaZU

Sony is launching a remote security service for Xperia owners via an app called MyXperia. The service, which is rolling out globally, will help Xperia users who have had their devices lost or stolen locate their devices and protect their personal data.

The security features will be accessible through myxperia.sonymobile.com using Google login credentials.
The MyXperia security app features:

  • Sound an alert to get someone’s attention –it’ll also override silent mode and wake the display
  • Map location via myxperia.sonymobile.com
  • Lock the phone to keep info private, and ping a message with contact details or…
  • Erase both internal and external SD card info / data if required

Availability of the app will vary by model, market and carrier. Look for the MyXperia app to be available for your Xperia device soon.

HTC should follow suite. All of these should be built in if not by google but then by the manufacturers. I have Lookout which is brilliant but people should not have to download these. One of the best things about blackberry when I had one it came preloaded with blackberry protect.
