With the introduction of Samsung Knox, the Korean company is able to compete for government business where security matters more than any other feature.
According to the Wall Street Journal, thanks to this software – Samsung is “close to signing deals” to sell its devices to FBI and the U.S. Navy. The order with FBI is said to be a large one compared to the one from the Navy, but it’s more about breaking the barrier and finally make Android “good enough” for super-demanding customers. To make this an option Sammy first needed to get its devices approved by the Department of Defense, which happily did that putting its seal behind the Knox, iOS and BlackBerry 10.
As you may know, the KNOX solution provides businesses and government agencies with the ability to use the same device for both work and personal use. Relying on Security Enhanced Android, which BTW is developed by NSA, it offers security at a number of levels keeping the content on the personal and work side separate and secure.
