The main benefit of owning a Nexus or Google Play edition device is the fact that you’ll be the first to get the latest version of Android. Sure, you may lose some customization options, but you’ll get much more in return.
That said, we’re glad to report that Google Play edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are getting these goodies as we speak. The kernel source for both devices have already been uploaded to the web, and the two handset makers fine-tuned their own software such as Boomsound and Flipcover support.
You may, however, experience few glitches here and there, but I would expect timely updates to fix any bugs you (and other users) spot.
So if you own one of these two devices, hit that button as soon as you’re prompted to update. 😉
