Google Play edition HTC One and Galaxy S4 getting their Android 4.3 updates

The main benefit of owning a Nexus or Google Play edition device is the fact that you’ll be the first to get the latest version of Android. Sure, you may lose some customization options, but you’ll get much more in return.

That said, we’re glad to report that Google Play edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are getting these goodies as we speak. The kernel source for both devices have already been uploaded to the web, and the two handset makers fine-tuned their own software such as Boomsound and Flipcover support.

You may, however, experience few glitches here and there, but I would expect timely updates to fix any bugs you (and other users) spot.

So if you own one of these two devices, hit that button as soon as you’re prompted to update. 😉

Yey for the lucky few who got these expensive phones. 🙁

FWIW, I have one and STILL haven’t gotten the update.

I forced the update last night by clearing data from downloads and Google Framework, then restarted and hit CHECK NOW under system updates . . . WA LA! it was there like magic.

Stepped into a Starbucks this morning and did the update over their free WiFi, it took about a 1/2 hour for the download and reboot/optimizations to complete. I’m a happy camper!

HTC One GPe in NYC on TMobile (and yes T-Mob is refarmed for aws 1900 band, and also rolled out LTE on the day I activated me phone). The whole experience has been what I hoped for and so much more. SOOOOO worth the money!! Everywhere I go people ask me about this phone and what it is . . . . . .
