We haven’t talked about TAG Heuer phones for more than a year; the luxury brand is back in the game and this time they’ve made sure their phone packs a neat technology under the hood. Actually, that’s under the screen which hides solar photovoltaic cells that are able to charge the phone while not in use. This in turn makes the newly announced TAG Heuer MERIDIIST INFINITE, the world’s first mobile phone with perpetual power reserve. It can take the energy from both direct sunlight and artificial light when the screen is exposed.

In addition, the MERIDIIST INFINITE also rocks other premium materials such as grade 5 Titanium and carbon. Unfortunately though, it’s a rather mediocre device with a 2.4-inch sapphire crystal monochrome OLED screen with QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) resolution, 5-megapixel camera on the back, dual-SIM capability, and 8GB of internal storage.

TAG Heuer will make only 1911 units of Meridiist Infinite, all of which will be available starting from July. The price is still unknown but we doubt this will be an affordable device many could buy. Rather, it will come with a premium price tag making it a gadget for the world’s richest people who prefer form over function…
