Football/soccer news destination Goal.com has launched a new World Cup edition of its mobile application for various platforms, including the iPhone, Nokia S60 5th Edition, BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile. Developed in partnership with Handmark, the Goal.com mobile app now boasts a special “World Cup” tab from where users can access top news with corresponding photos, live Scores with play-by-play details, player ratings, teams with schedule and lineup details, fixtures and results by day, group stage with team standings, as well as Knockout Stage with the final tournament schedule.

All this is available in multiple languages — English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch, Japanese, Turkish and Indonesian — and the application will reportedly automatically detect your preferred language. Then you can customize the app based on leagues, teams and other information.

And that’s about it. Goal.com promises to deliver great coverage of the 2010 World Cup, with 10 reporters based in South Africa. You can grab the application from Goal.com’s website or by searching for “goal.com” in your respective app store.
