Pay for recharging of electric cars with mobile in Sweden

High tech Swedes are on the roll. Like it’s not enough they are among the first countries to get an LTE network, now we’re hearing that electric car owners will be able to pay for recharging with their mobile phone!

In order to do so, you’ll have to download a special mobile app, developed by Accumulate and Sust (Sustainable Innovation). Once that is set, you enter the amount (or desired amount) of time for charging directly to the power pole (delivered by Fagerhult) and that’s it. The application communicates with the power pole, removing the need for pressing any buttons on the pole itself.

Swedish Energy Agency is supporting the project and I think governments around the world should do the same. We’re talking about something that’s both eco-friendly and convenient to use. Don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t work everywhere. Except maybe the still high prices of electric and hybrid vehicles…
