eMarketer: U.S. mobile content revenues to top $1.54 billion this year, $3.53 billion in 2014

According to a new report from eMarketer, the U.S. mobile content revenues will reach $1.54 billion this year, driven by the growing consumer appetite for mobile games, music and video. The research company estimates further growth of the market due to increasing number of smartphone users and tablet devices available on the market. On that note, eMarketer forecasts revenues will reach $3.53 billion in 2014 — including both pay-per-view and advertising-supported content.

Unsurprisingly, gaming is leading the way with revenues accounting for $849 million from around 64 million mobile gamers in the country. Mobile TV and video services, on the other hand, are set to reach revenues of $719 million this year, and $1.3 billion by 2014.

At the moment, the main factor driving revenues to publishers is paid or subscription-based content, though ad-supported revenues are expected to grow at more than double the rate of paid mobile content through 2014.

As usual (with our research posts), you can get more information from eMarketer’s website.
