We’re hearing that Palm’s burning a bunch of holiday good-will and laying of employees just in time to spoil the holiday mood. PalmInfoCenter cites “reliable sources” that say that Palm is laying off employees around the globe. Now, the reports are unconfirmed at this point, but if they pan out, Palm will be making a lay-off announcement sometime later this week. For the sake of a stress-free holiday season, we’re hoping that Palm won’t be bringing the ax down on any of its worker-bees.
Of course, Palm isn’t doing all that well this quarter – or last quarter, or the quarter before that, for that matter – so it’s not all that surprising to hear that Palm is trying to with the “lean and mean” strategy when it comes to its employee-base. It’s just too bad that the renewed focus on actually making money will be at the expense of a good deal of holiday cheer and their employees’ financial stability.
