Sony Ericsson and Sagem just announced a partnership agreement under which Sagem will make entry-level devices for the Swedish-Japanese company. As part of the agreement Sagem will license certain hardware and software technologies to Sony Ericsson. In addition the two companies will conduct joint development activities.
As part of its commitment to the new partnership, Sony Ericsson will establish a development unit dedicated to entry level mobile phones, to be located in the vicinity of Sagem’s premises in Cergy, France. Sony Ericsson’s idea is to strengthen its position in this area of the market, whilst at the same time benefit from the technical know-how and the engineering capacity of Sagem.
