Amazon TextBuyIt

Recently launched Amazon TextBuyIt is set to bring mobile shopping to all mobile phone users in the U.S. No fancy smartphone is required. All you have to do is send a text message with name of the product, description, UPC or ISBN to “AMAZON” (262966), and in case there is such products in Amazon’s database – they will return a message with two results at the time. Return “1” or “2” message if those are the products you want, or “M” to get more results.

Once you pick the product, TextBuyIt will prompt you to enter your email associated with the existing Amazon account and a shipping zip code. The service then calls you and walks through the checkout process using an automated voice system. Shopping confirmation is sent by text message and e-mail, and order status can be tracked on Amazon’s website.

Kudos to Amazon for creating a service that can be used by virtually every mobile phone user and that makes shopping even more convenient…
