NBA Smash!Gameloft keeps licensing famous brands and organizations to release official mobile game titles. They already have such names as Hulk Hogan, Wimbledon, Ferrari, CSI, and Derek Jeter on board. Now they’ve announced an agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to develop and publish two NBA games for mobile phones.

The first title called NBA Smash! is an arcade-style 2-on-2 street basketball game that is scheduled to be released later in the month. Slam dunks and skillful dribbling are all included as players try to string together combos to maximize their score. An advanced career mode allows players to create their own players, form and upgrade their teams, and face off against all the NBA teams.

A second game, for which we still don’t know the official name, will be hitting mobile screens somewhere in September 2008. It will be a 5-on-5 simulation style game, featuring all 30 teams and every NBA player, as well as the full 80 game season and events from NBA All-Star. The in-depth management feature will enable players to manage their team rosters and choose winning strategies to top the competition…

Way to go Gameloft. Sounds like you have a slam dunk. Can’t wait to get my hands on the Smash! 😉
