Friendster goes mobileBack in December of last year, we reported Friendster has taken first steps to mobilize its service. Now the “number 1 social network in Asia” announced what looks like the second one.

No widgets are needed to install this time. Simply point your mobile browser to m.friendster.com and take the Friendster experience with you, wherever you are.

Using m.friendster.com from any Internet-ready mobile device, Friendster users can retrieve updates on their friends’ activities, check messages, review friend requests, post shoutouts, browse photos, browse user profiles and Fan Profiles, search for users by name or email, view birthdays, read horoscopes, post bulletins and much more. This enables more effective communications with friends while away from a computer.

At the moment, Friendster’s mobile website is available in English only. It will be translated in multiple languages soon, Indonesian among the first (Friendster has 8 million registered users from Indonesia). The mobile service is free, though carrier data charges may apply.
