Sprint Airave femto-cell on sale on July 15?

Sprint AiraveSprint’s been fooling around with their femto-cell offering for some time now, and we’re hearing that the No. 3 US carrier will be rolling out nationwide sales of the Airave signal booster on July 15. And to boost the credibility of Airave-sales rumors, the Airave has reportedly been spotted in the wild with retail packaging.

With Sprint’s Airave hardware and a broadband internet connection, Sprint users left wanting for significant signal strength can use their pico-cell to route their Sprint phone’s calls over VoIP. The solution should give signal-lacking Sprint users enough CDMA service to carry conversations throughout their house.

The graphic below should help you understand how a femtocell works.

Rumor pegs the Sprint Airave going on sale on July 15 for $99.
