Nokia launches Files on Ovi in beta

Files on OviLast December, Nokia acquired Avvenu, an online service that lets users “securely access, use and share files from their desktop computers using their mobile phones.” Now, we’re starting to see effects of the acquisition as the Finnish giant introduced “Files on Ovi.”

Still in beta, the new service consists of two parts – a desktop client that sits on your computer and a mobile web component that allows you to access your files from any Internet connected device, mobile phones included.

However, it’s not just accessing your files from anywhere, the new service is offering. There’s also the paid version called “Anytime files,” which basically works like Box.net or MediaFire. In case you don’t know what the two mentioned services do, you should know they provide users with a storage space where users can upload their files, and access and share them with their friends and/or colleagues. A free 60 trial version is available, so you could try the service prior to purchasing it.

As with all beta versions out there, you should expect some hiccups here and there. That being said, you’re also welcomed to send Ovi team a feedback and make sure they fix any of the bugs that may occur.

Hop over to files.ovi.com to give it a try.
