The Washinton state House passed a bill that bans the act of text messaging while driving. In a landslide 90-8 vote, on Tuesday, the House effectively made it a crime to text while driving. Washington state Governor Chris Gregoire expects to sign off on the bill, which will put an end to “absolutely dangerous behavior” – as said by Rep. Joyce McDonald. As a secondary offense, the $101 fine will only be issued if the driver is pulled over on a primary offense – speeding, running a stop sign – and the traffic infraction will not affect driving records.
