Walmart to sell iPhone 3G?

Here’s an interesting story. Wal-Mart may end up selling iPhone in its stores. Apparently, the first iPhone 3Gs will hit, we guess select, Wal-Mart stores on November 15th, which is just under two weeks before Black Friday.

The problem with this story and why are we saying “select stores” is the iPhone activation process. Remember the rule – you can’t leave the store before activating your beloved handset. That could be the problem and the solution seems obvious – make iPhone 3Gs available in urban areas, only or at least in the areas where AT&T’s 3G network actually works. Otherwise, who needs a 3G-enabled iPhone without the proper coverage.

The move would certainly help Apple drive iPhone 3G sales through the roof and beat any analyst’s expectations. We’ll see where this goes, it’s still a rumor after all…
