Nokia N95 – So Good It’s Clone-Worthy

Nokia N95 clone - MB1500 with 5 megapixel Say what you want about Nokia’s N95, it’s a great smartphone phone. The N95 is basically the hottest mobile phone on the block right now – so hot that clones of the 5megapixel camera phone are starting to pop-up. The newest N95 clone to hit the streets is the MB1500 – which opts to go with a candy-bar form factor rather than the real N95’s sliding package. Still, the clone sure does look a lot like an N95 with its keypad slid out. (many more pics to follow…)

The buttons bear striking resemblance (as expected) to the Nokia’s buttons, but with the keypad located south of the d-pad instead of sliding out from underneath. The MB1500 sports Bluetooth, stereo speakers, microSD slot, and 3.5 inch LCD – all in a slim 103 × 44 × 13 mm package, weighing just 65 grams.

That’s great and all, but what makes this thing an N95 clone is its 5 megapixel camera with autofocus (hardware or software?) – not to mention the front-facing 1.3 megapixel video conferencing cam. Sounds too good to be true right? Well, you know what they say about something being too good to be true…it usually is.

You see, the reason Nokia’s camera phones have always been soo good is the German-quality Carl Zeiss optics that they use. And, seeing as how this clone hails from China, we doubt that you will get anything more than 5 megapixels of crappy, noise-filled, fuzz-laden images from low-grade optics. Sure the camera bezel is etched with the “Carl Zeiss” marque, but, as we said, this thing is from China and we’re not going to put too much faith in some dubious claim to high-quality optics.
