Sometimes app vendors do make grand claims about the capabilites of their apps – and variously we find out the reality when we download them and try them out. And so it comes to be that another entrant in to the multi-functional app comes to pass, and they are called MobiMonster – check out the info below and if you fancy a look at their site, you can reach it by clicking here.

MobiMonster has released a Mobile Application that is able to provide Free Weather, Currency, Worldwide Air, Hotel and Car reservations from your mobile device.  Just another mobile application?  Think again.

This application is capable of querying flight delays and schedules right from the airports and airlines, Backup your phone, translate in several languages, store all your secure data (encrypted), Share your photos, video and provide access to files from anywhere and more.

The application runs on Symbian Series 60 3rd edition and Windows Mobile 5.0 and above devices, which is about 80% of the world’s smart phone market share. The application runs well, but does require GPRS to be operational. You are also required to register the application, which according to MobiMonster, is required to beam you discount coupons and location based advertisements. The advertisements are not intrusive instead they are only available to you when you are using the MobiMonster application.

The application aims to be a mass market software as it provides free and paid services. With services that aim to appease the home and business user it would be interesting to see how this application is adopted.  The application is easy to install and quick to get up and running.  Certain services, such as Photo, Video and File sharing require full GPRS, for which the user has to call up my network provider. Taking a backup of your phone to stored data on the MobiMonster servers. It is responsive and reflects the data within a few seconds. Edit contacts and restore them back to your phone at any time.

Overall, the application is likeable and has swanky interfaces with a good combination of service on the mobile and Internet.

Thanks to Chris for the pointer 🙂
