LG to release 10 new smartphones next year

LG may not be known as a smartphone maker, but that could change during the next year. Apparently, the Korean giant plans to release 10 new smartphones and also wants to see them as “million sellers.”

According to Telecoms Korea’s report, “LG mobile phones made strides in hardware but remained weak in smartphones, which require sophisticated software. The priority should be put on software than making good-looking phones like Prada and Viewty.”

It is said that at least one of the new devices released in 2009 will run Windows Mobile. Other than that, LG is also considering Symbian and Linux-based smartphone. We know they’ve already developed S60 devices in the past. Furthermore, they are member of Google’s Open Handset Alliance. These two facts alone promise interesting news from Korea and we’re looking forward to hear more from them on the subject.
