NTT-Neomeit announces u-consento service to remotely control home appliancesOh NTT, you’re always coming up with new mobile phone features to amaze us! This time, your subsidiary, NTT-Neomeit, has announced plans for their “U-consento” service. This inexpensive cheap service is just what we were looking for! How did you know to fill that empty space in our lives with a method to control home appliances with our cell phones? It’s so great that you are letting us rent your U-consento remote control system – which communicates with remote power switches and IR transmitters, and controlled through a web page, from your cell phone – for just $4 a month. We love how we can remotely program our VCR DVR, set our thermostadt, turn on lights, and even monitor appliance usage. What? It’s only available to NTT broadband subscribers in western Japan? The pilot is set to launch in Kansai, in May? Damn you, NTT! You broke our hearts again!
