Outpost brings Basecamp to the iPhone

I’m not sure have you heard about 37signals and their popular project management tool Basecamp, which is used by more than 500,000 users. While it’s already available for mobile access using Phonified Tracker, if you’re an iPhone/iPod Touch user, you couldn’t use it on your beloved device. No more! Thanks to the native iPhone app called Outpost, you can do your “project management thing” on-the-go from the comfort of a capacitive touchscreen.

Here’s what they say about it:

Outpost brings the power of Basecamp to your iPhone or iPod Touch, with comprehensive support for messages, milestones, to-dos, and comments. Outpost is also the first app for Basecamp which offers full offline capabilities.

Saw that? “Offline capabilities” means you can continue to work on your projects even while in the plane or some other environment where you can’t connect to the Internet. Nicely done!

Outpost costs $12.99 and you can grab it from here (iTunes).

Alternatively, you may want to try out some other Basecamp iPhone apps. There are a total of 7 such apps (Outpost included) in the AppStore. Simply search for “basecamp” and see what else is there.
