Man gets caught with stolen Sony Ericsson prototypes!

If you have to use a key-card to gain access to a certain building, it’s probably not a good idea to steal anything out of said building. Apparently, nobody passed that memo to a 35-year old man was caught today in Sweden with $90,000 (750,000  kronor) worth of stolen Sony Ericsson hardware. The thief managed to steal a bunch of Sony Ericsson prototype handsets out of the cellphone maker’s Lund offices in Sweden earlier this week, only to be caught today.

The thing is, the thief did contract work for Sony Ericsson from time to time. He was apparently assigned a key-card to gain access to the Sony Ericsson office. The key-card he used to enter the building was logged, and when police followed up with the man, they found his stash of hot Sony Ericsson goods.

We have to wonder how a contractor for a major manufacturer can think that he would get away with stealing prototype handsets that were presumably under some sort of lock-and-key. But, we can’t say we’re surprised to hear that the man was promptly arrested for his half-baked crime.
