When Qik first came on the scene with their mobile video-streaming service, we took notice. Qik broke new ground by allowing mobile phone users to stream live video straight from the hands and to the web, and managed to pull it off with smooth video streams. Unfortunately, Qik requires a solid data connection to stay at the top of its game.

So, to help cross-promote the other’s services, Qik and hotspot operator Boingo Wireless have just announced a partnership that will open up Boingo’s 85,000 hotspot-strong network to Qik users. On the one hand we have Boingo Wireless, which operates WiFi hotspots in almost every corner of the globe. The other hand holds Qik, which gives mobile phone users the tools they need to broadcast live video to the web with their cellphone and a high-speed data connection. Like any good partnership, Qik and Boingo’s services go hand-in-hand.

Under the new partnership, Qik users that sign up for Boingo service through Boingo’s Qik-portal will be awarded a free month of hotspot access. The deal will have Boingo and Qik sharing revenue from customers that sign up through Qik’s Boingo sign-up page, as confirmed by Mobile Crunch, although it’s unclear how much Qik is getting kicked-back. And, more importantly, the partnership allows Qik to avoid using advertising to generate revenue.

In order to get your free 30-days of Boingo service, you have to sign up through the Qik-portal and use a credit card (that’s how these types of offers work). Find out more here.
