Vodafone to target being number one again in UK

vodafone-logo2According to Mobile Today, Vodafone has made catching O2 it’s number one priority!

For those of you that are less familiar with the UK Mobile Operator scene, it’s a fairly lively one – with 5 actual Network owner operators, and then a number of MVNOs, the battle for pricing, devices, and service is always quite fierce.

“Three” (Hutchison 3G) in recent times have been offering content and tariff bundles that are screamingly good in price, and T-Mobile’s Web n Walk offering (with unlimited net access) has proved popular too. O2 has led the way in terms of marketing (The O2, The iPhone, England Rugby….etc!), and then for me, it’s just Orange and Vodafone that have been “doing their thing”.

Vodafone of course is well-known within the business sector, where it supplies many corporate accounts with service, but as a consumer, I’ve always perceived Vodafone as more expensive. If Vodafone IS going to catch O2, then there is some serious ground to be gained in terms of a joined-up proposition, and in my opinion, some more killer devices. A re-look at the tariffs probably wouldn’t do any harm either.

Whatever it is that Vodafone does to try and catch up the current largest Operator in the UK, it’s going to have to be a behemoth effort – and I can’t wait for the battle that ensues – because it should mean better deals for all of us consumers in the UK 🙂
