According to a new eMarketer report, the U.S. spending on mobile content and services like video, text messaging, and music is set for a significant growth in the coming years, and is estimated to hit $37.5 billion in 2010, up from $5.4 billion in 2006.
eMarketer’s report also shows:
- Mobile messaging spending will account for $15 billion in 2010 (this year – $3.3 billion)
- Mobile entertainment spending will reach $15 billion by 2010 (this year – $1.1 billion)
- Spending on information services will total $7.5 billion in 2010 (this year – $1 billion)
To put these number into play, several companies have announced their mobile initiatives, including The New York Times and Clear Channel.
