On the heels of its acquisition of FreeRange Communications, Handmark announced that it has leveraged its Mobile Publishing Platform to release new mobile apps in partnership with the Associated Press, Canadian Press, Time Inc., Forbes.com, and CBS Interactive.

Applications that Handmark has developed include:

  • Associated Press (AP) – new Spanish version featuring a range of news topics such as National, World, Showbiz, Sports, Business, Politics, Wacky News, Technology, Lifestyle and Travel — with a special focus on customizable Local News content.
  • Canadian Press – new French and English versions will allow users to quickly view, save and share news and photo content from the Canadian Press.
  • mine – supports a new digital magazine developed by Time Inc. and American Express Publishing Corporation allowing readers to choose content from such top brands as CNNMoney.com, Food&Wine.com, Golf.com, InStyle.com, People.com, RealSimple.com, SI.com, Time.com and Travel+Leisure.com – to create their own personal magazine.
  • Forbes.com – one-click access to full stories published by Forbes.com, as well as personalized stock updates and market data.
  • BNET (owned by CBS Interactive) – featuring news and advice on business and management issues.
  • ZDnet (owned by CBS Interactive) – news, analysis and more for IT folks.

At the moment, the applications are available for BlackBerry smartphones only, but Handmark wowed to bring them to Windows Mobile and J2ME-based phones, as well.
