This year is set to end with 4.3 billion mobile subscribers, and ABI Research predicts that the number will further grow to nearly 5.4 billion by 2013.

ABI ResearchAmong the key factors that will push the mobile phone adoption are changing distribution models, greater choice of connected devices, faster networks, and proliferation of mobile applications. The research company argues that all these factors highlight one of the biggest challenges facing the industry today – mobile services personalization.

ABI’s Dan Shey says that customers increasingly want a personalized experience with their mobile device and service. “Service personalization involves not only allowing them to find and select the right mobile services and applications but also to control, monitor, and pay for mobile services in a way that best suits their needs,” he added.

In the same press release, ABI announced the launch of “The Mobile Consumer Research Service” to provide interested companies with an end-user view of the mobile consumer that is crucial to success in creating strategies for addressing this market. More information is available from their website…
