More news on that high resolution Hitachi screen; still waiting on Nokia to use it

I fell in love with this LCD the moment I read the fact sheet. 2.9 inches, 800×400, that’s over 300 DPI!

Can you say crisp?

I never knew Hitachi made mobile phones, but apparently they do, and they just launched one in Japan with that wicked LCD. I want this screen to be in the next flagship Nokia phone. The N95 is shockingly only QVGA!

Check out Hitachi’s W51H

This isn’t Nokia related per say but it’s just awesome to see what cool toys the Japanese get that will never see the light of day outside that little island.

Hitachi don’t sell their mobile phones here in the UK, but their latest model, the W51H, makes me wish they did. It’s just been announced in Japan, and is a clamshell phone with a monster 2.9-inch display with 480×800-pixel resolution. That’s dribbleworthy in itself.

The phone also has a fingerprint-scanner to stop people nicking your sensitive data (i.e. saucy text messages), a two-megapixel camera with LED flash, 30MB of internal memory, and voice-activated GPS that lets you speak your destination, with the software then figuring out how to get you there.

Only thing the N95 does better is the OS and 5 MP camera.
