Verizon drops BlackBerry Storm to $100 on contract

Following the launch of the BlackBerry Tour, Verizon Wireless has dropped the price of their BlackBerry Storm touchscreen smartphone to a C-note ($100). Ignore, for a second, the fact that an arguably better BlackBerry has is now available to BlackBerry fans on Big Red. The cheaper price point should help make the Storm’s wonky click-screen more appealing to potential BlackBerry customers.

For those of you still in the dark, the BlackBerry Storm sports a clickable touchscreen technology that RIM (Research In Motion) calls SurePress. The touchscreen, though a great concept, has proven awkward in real life. It’s a shame too, because the Storm sports a 3.2-megapixel camera, a big display, integrated GPS and world-roaming capabilities. Not too shabby, from a spec-sheet perspective.

A new, 2-year contract will net you a Verizon BlackBerry Storm for $100 and the feeling of having bought last year’s model. Interested? Head on over to Verizon Wireless for your $100 BlackBerry Storm.
