FlyCast 2.0 Arrives for BlackBerry. Station Caching, In-App Purchasing, Twitter Support and More!

fclogoFlyCast has launched a new version of their popular BlackBerry radio app. I have to admit, I’ve tried out FlyCast but not a lot. The one thing I know for sure is the app allows you to store favorite stations on your device for listening at a later date (even when not connected to a data or WiFi network. Kinda cool, especially if you’re heading out someplace where reception is sketchy.

In FlyCast 2.0 you’ll be able to enjoy the following features:

  • 3 Plays/30Days – Cached content is maintained in the context of the station and can be kept for a maximum of 30 days or three plays, whichever occurs first;
  • In-Application Purchasing – Users can purchase tracks with the click of a button from within the application, even after the song has been broadcast;
  • Twitter integration – Users can Tweet or “recommend” songs they like from FlyCast. Links are then posted to their Twitter account and followers can click on the link from any Twitter reader and be immediately taken to that station and hear the entire song.

FlyCast 2.0 also offers OTA caching of stations, and does not require a USB connection. Your favorite stations will also be ‘burst-cached’ for the ultimate radio caching solution. Minutes are only needed to cache hours of radio.

FlyCast 2.0 supports the BlackBerry Storm, Bold and Curve… and will be coming out for the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices later in the year.

You can pick up FlyCast at www.flycast.fm from your Berry’s browser (it’s free, and allows for unlimited streaming). The only sorta sad thing here is you have to pay for the station caching if you enjoy it. After download you’ll have 7 days to try it out. If you want to run with it, it’ll cost you $9.95 for the five hour and $19.95 for 20 hour versions.

Note: The app has been submitted to BlackBerry App World and should show up in the catalog shortly!

Thanks Liora!
