Unannounced Nokia hits the FCC: Code name Alvin, 32 GB memory, triband WCDMA

Nokia probably hates the FCC right about now. In order to sell their mobile phones in the U S of A, they have to be certified as safe and compliant by a body of individuals who are only now trying to figure out why the North American wireless ecosystem is a load of horse shit. An unannounced device has just been uploaded to the FCC’s database, officially called “RM-559”, the code name is Alvin. Not much is known, except that it has 32 GB of memory built in, quad band GSM, triband WCDMA (900/1900/2100 MHz), Bluetooth, WiFi and the same BL-5J battery found inside the Nokia N900. Nokia sent a letter [PDF link] to the FCC on August 20 asking for 45 days of confidentiality with regards to showing actual photos of the device, that would peg this device’s announcement date anywhere from Nokia World to the middle of October. Is this going to be the “one more thing” at Nokia World this week? We’ll have to wait.
