Nokia: Don’t mind the current economic situation, pick up a 6700 Classic Gold Edition [$545]

The Nokia 6700 Classic is a lovely feature phone that has a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, and it is meant to be the successor of the hugely successful 6300. When it was announced back in January of this year it was offered for 235 EUR [$345] and that was a fairly reasonable price. Today Nokia has announced the Gold Edition of the 6700 Classic, with real 18 carat gold plating. They’re charging 370 EUR [$545] for it, before tax, and are gracious enough to throw in an 8 GB memory card and a “natural leather” case, which I suppose is equivalent to real leather. In a survey conducted by Nokia they found that the gaudy appearance of the 6700 Classic Gold Edition is described as “attractive” by the upper class in Dubai, Russian oil tycoons, Paris Hilton, Pimps with a minimum of 5 Hoes in full time operation, Hernán Cortés and Auric Goldfinger.
