Frequent travelers will be happy to hear that as of January 21, T-Mobile will now be dishing out unlock codes to 40-day-old FlexPay and PostPaid customers, and prepaid customers after 60 days of service (versus 90 days previously). Even if you’re leaving T-Mobile, you can get an unlock code for your old phone if you’re in good standing and had spent at least 40 days with them. As nice as it would be if these changes were borne of competitive pressures and goodwill towards customers, they’re actually the direct product of a legal settlement. Still, you can’t complain with results, especially if it makes switching GSM carriers that much easier.
