LG Announces 3G-Enabled GS500 Cookie Plus

LG-CookiePlus

LG has been busy gearing up for Mobile World Congress next week – yesterday, we had GT350 and the GD880 Mini, and today we have the GS500 Cookie Plus. Much like the other two, the Cookie Plus hinges on social networking apps, Apparently this is the first of many Cookie-family handsets to become available “over the next few months”, with an eye for affordability. A 3G version of the Cookie had already found its way to South Korea, but the proportions on the Plus are definitely less chunky-looking.

LG is being vague on specs, but we know that the Cookie Plus will have a 3 megapixel camera, 3G, and an FM tuner. Apparently it won’t have Wi-Fi, and has a 3” 240 x 400 display, but we’ll hold off on more specifics until we try it out at Mobile World Congress next week. On the software side, Facebook, Flickr and Twitter are the only ones mentioned – what, no Buzz?

The original Cookie did pretty damned well for itself, and I bet LG is trying its damnedest to recreate that success with other Cookie handsets. France and Italy will be the first to get the Cookie Plus in early March, with 45 countries getting it shortly after.
