Rumor: WIND Getting the Android-Powered HTC Magic+

If getting a whackload of new Motorola MOTOBLUR-enabled devices wasn’t enough for Canadians… How about another carrier choice for even more Android love? Wouldn’t that be nice?

Recently a WIND subscriber reported that the HTC Magic+ showed up when he logged into his account. Granted, this could be easily faked, but still, I wouldn’t put it past WIND to start offering some Android options.

Just a little while ago Rogers went through what I’ll call the ‘911 debacle’ regarding the Magic and Dream. You can read about it here, here, here, oh, and here. With many customers no doubt a little ‘peeved’, this may be an ideal device for WIND to hit the Canadian market with. Following the drama, Rogers updated the Magic with Sense UI, and renamed it the Magic+. They also offered Dream users a free upgrade to the Magic, providing they sign-off on a new, 3-year contract (boo). If WIND does indeed hit the scene with the Magic (and I hope they do), expect it to be the + kind, with Sense UI (oh, and Android 2.0 would be nice!).

Note: At the time of writing, WIND only had the Bold 9700, HTC Maple, Samsung Gravity 2 and Huawei U7519 up for grabs. Hopefully that will change soon.
