Nokia N97 mini Oakley Limited Edition is for sponsored Olympians, only

Oakley and Nokia collaborated in Vancouver for a special limited edition Nokia N97 mini for Oakley sponsored Olympians. Only 200 of these were made, hence you (and me) probably won’t get a chance to play with one.

But don’t be too sad. Basically, it’s the regular N97 mini with the Oakley Thunderbird logo laser etched onto the back of the phone and some pre-loaded Oakley content.

If I was looking for a limited edition N97 mini, I would pick that very cool lookin’ RAOUL version which is (or was) available in Singapore. Then there’s the Gold Edition that is (or again was) offered by Nokia Poland…

Nokia (and other handset makers for that matter) keep pushing limited edition devices all the time and some of these special phones actually reach decent sales figures. Personally, I believe the idea is to reach people who may not like the original product, but are compelled to grab one as soon as they see it being endorsed by some celebrity, or dipped and plated in the good ol’ gold. 😉
