Motorola i890 starts selling on Sprint

Sprint has started selling a new Nextel Direct Connect device – Motorola i890. The fairly ugly clamshell supports push-to-talk services such as Group Connect, Direct Talk and Direct Send. Moreover, it comes with a dedicated button for opening the flip, 2-megapixel camera that can take both photos and videos, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, media player (with dedicated control keys), speakerphone and a microSD slot that works with memory cards up to 8GB.

The price, you ask (or not) – it’s $130 after rebates and with an agreement.

And if you don’t remember, we’ve first seen the i890 “unveiled” by the FCC at the beginning of January. Then, just 10 days ago, it has been announced (alongside some other devices) by SouthernLINC.

Finally, before I let you go, I must add my two cents. I really don’t get it – why is it so hard to make a decent looking iDEN phone? Motorola is behind some very stylish devices, yet when it comes to iDEN, it seems like their B team is doing all the design. Go figure…
