Mobile games developer Gameloft announced the first guitar simulation video game for the mobile market. According to their release, “Guitar Legend: Get On Stage!” will allow gamers to play hit rock songs directly on their mobile phones, regardless of their actual musical knowledge or skill — the game is easy to play, and all you have to do is press the appropriate phone keys in rhythm with the music. If the correct keys are hit, the melody and guitar parts are piped into the base tempo, “evoking a feeling of playing guitar with a real rock band.”

To make the game sound sweet, Gameloft licensed such legendary rock classics like “Smoke on the Water,” and “Message in a Bottle,” as well as recent hits like “Banquet.” At the same time, to keep you motivated to play “Guitar Legend”, Gameloft added 51 rock star mode levels.

Somehow, the idea seems right in this “Web 2.0 world” we’re living. It’s not just enough to listen to the music — it’s all about individual participation in the community. On the second thought, I don’t see where’s the community here… I guess, we’ll have to wait for August 1st to find out!
