Forget PayPal for mobile, Obopay is set to rule mobile payments!

First they’ve partnered with Verizon to offer their services to the carrier’s subscribers. Then we saw more merchants jumping in to the platform, and now… no one else but Citi is partnering with the mobile payment provider to pilot a new mobile peer to peer payment service! Bravo for Obopay! — no they aren’t our advertiser, though we wouldn’t reject their money. 🙂

Anyway, select Citi customers participating in the trial can add their money to their mobile account from here through credit card or electronic bank transfer. Then, using the Obopay mobile application, their mobile Web browser or text messaging, they can manage mobile payment account directly from a mobile phone. In addition, trial participants will be able to check balances and view payment histories, and access the newly received money with a prepaid debit card which will be provided with the service.
