Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630

A quick OS update for the Verizon BlackBerry Tour owners out there. This is my favorite kind of update… an official one! Looks like Verizon has gone live with OS 5.0.0.591 for the 9630, and it comes with some pretty neat enhancements including the ability to add Push to Talk to your BlackBerry plan. Key features of the new PTT service includes the ability to:

  • Communicate with one person or a team with the push of a button
  • Initiate and participate in group calls with up to 50 participants
  • Integration of a single device and phone number for both Push to Talk and voice calls
  • Check colleagues’ availability for a Push to Talk call with the Presence feature

I should note, after installation you’ll get a free trial, but upon conclusion the PTT service will run you $5/mth going forward.

You can go ahead and grab your copy of OS 5.0.0.591 for the Tour 9630 via Verizon >
