Apple responds to WiFi issues to iPad users, offers little help

WiFi issues on the iPad are one of the few problems users have been seeing. Some have trouble keeping a connection, and some people have not been able to to connect to WiFi at all. Well, an official statement from Apple has been released onto their forums. Well, it’s more of a FAQ that they have released, and some of what they have to say could help you, and some are just common sense.

Some have problems connecting to WiFi in general, some are experiencing problems rejoining a network after the device has been woke up from its sleep state. Apple offers some help, but this will probably not solve most of the problems. An Apple employee also provided a note and FAQ, with more links for support. Where it may not fix everything, it provides more support than the official Apple statement.

The provided FAQs and support pages have various ways that you can work with your other equipment to make sure it suits the iPad. Not the other way around. The FAQs admit absolutely no fault to the iPad, and it seems that they make the assumption that its your WiFi router, or something else, and it’s not their product that has the problem. But that’s how corporate rolls, they are the Starbucks of consumer electronics. What’s more interesting is that the iPad is experiencing these problems when other [Apple] products are in the same place, and experiencing no such issues. One of the funnier ways to help your iPad maintain a connection is to bring your device closer to the WiFi hotspot. Well, that may work, but wouldn’t you assume that they would provide a decent WiFi receiver in the device, to avoid having to be right next to a hotspot in order to get any wireless connectivity? It is supposed to be a portable, product, isn’t it?

Oh Apple, if you would have just added one fucking USB port, people could tether the thing. That way, if they manage to get the thing charged, and WiFi doesn’t work, at least they could get some sort of network activity. But then again, if Apple were to do that, then it could defeat the purpose of a 3G model.
