Myxer, the company that is usually known for its ringtones offering, is entering the wallpaper market with GeoPix for Android. The new application relies on the smartphone’s built-in GPS receiver and background services technologies to determine user’s location and then use that information to “auto-magically” change wallpaper.
Of course, prior to doing this, you’ll need to setup GeoPix. You can easily save any number of locations (either by sliding your finger around a map or typing in your address) and set images for each one of them. For the latter part, you are free to use your own photos or pick some from Myxer’s vast catalog of wallpapers.
And that’s about it. Not surprisingly, GeoPix is a free app which you can download from the Android Market or by texting GEOPIX to 69937 “MYXER.”
Finally, Myxer’s press release ends with a promise that more cool things are coming, including over-the-air music downloads, mobile streaming video, and a host of other new services.
