The latest report from the market research firm Chadwick Martin Bailey suggests that BlackBerry is still the most preferred device among the enterprise customers. The survey collected responses from hundreds of IT decision-makers at enterprises with more than thousand employees, and have additionally found that RIM and its competitors haven’t been particularly successful at pushing smartphone use beyond the executive suite. (What about Nokia NSeries?)
I find it interesting how RIM keeps succeeding on the market, despite the fact that nowadays other smartphones based on Windows Mobile or Symbian OS can do all the things BlackBerrys can. The first mover advantage is certainly something that shouldn’t be underestimated…
Finally, I want to point out that it’s not just RIM’s competitors that are trying hard to get the piece of the enterprise smartphone market — RIM itself is pushing new converged WiFi and GPS-enabled devices to reach users even outside of corporations.
