As much as I’ve been enjoying my iPad since its release, one thing I’ve been dying to use on it has been a worthwhile chat program. One of my favorites on the iPhone has been Beejive. It’s easy to set up, use, and it has push notifications that allow me to receive IMs even when I don’t have Beejive open. You could imagine my surprise and geeky elation when I heard Beejive has just been released for the iPad.

Beejive for the iPad brings everything you know and love about the iPhone version, expect it’s all accessed from your iPad. You can connect to a huge number of popular chat programs like AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, iChat, Myspace, Facebook, ICQ, and Jabber. Beejive for the iPad takes full advantage of the iPad screen by allowing you to see your buddy list, current chat, and list of open chats you’re engaged in all in its landscape mode. Portrait mode only offers current chat & open chats, but you can easily view your buddy list by tapping on the “Buddy” icon on the top-right of the screen.

To celebrate the launch of Beejive for the iPad, they’re offering the program at a discounted price of $6, which will go up to $10 once the sale concludes. So if you’ve been wanting a simple to use chat program for your iPad, I can’t recommend Beejive enough.
