AT&T makes it easier on parents – Parental Controls will limit voice and data usage

AT&T logo - ATT to launch AT&T Smart Limits parental controls for family plansIt looks like AT&T is going to make it easier to have kids. No, they’re not getting into the family planning planning/fertility business (that’s already being covered by Samsung). The leading US wireless carrier is set to launch a parental control service starting September 4. Dubbed “AT&T Smart Limits,” the new service will allow parents to limit the voice and data usage of anyone on their family plan. Users can set usage limits, allocate different minute allowances to each individual, set limits based on time or date, and even filter content.

Parents using AT&T’s family plans will be happy to hear that little Sally won’t be charging up a storm in SMS text message fees, and Junior will finally be banned from accessing illicit content through his iPhone (he’ll just have to use his computer for that stuff).

Of course, being an AT&T feature, you’ll be paying $4.99 for every month you use this new service. Or, you know, just grab that $50 handset from Sprint and control their wireless access as well as track their location via GPS.
